Sound Transit is one of the two transit authorities in the Puget Sound area. They control the comings and goings of the "express" line of buses. Express buses are ones that typically run every half hour over great distances, say from SeaTac to the Bellevue Transit center.

They are of different management and are often at odds with the other transit organization King Country Metro. According to several of the bus drivers, Sound Transit is much more regulated and more unpleasant to drive for, although it runs and maintanes cleaner and newer buses.

Sound transit was originally responsible for trains, but took over several of King Country Metro's in 1997, in order to make more efficient use of resources. Its actual effect is heavily disputed to this day. All in all the Seattle transit system is excellent; even though it is one of the worst traffic cities in the country.
