Simply, a smoky martini is a vodka martini with scotch instead of vermouth.

However ...

This is the perfect Smoky Martini:

The Ingredients

  • Vox vodka - pH neutral
  • Laphroiag Scotch - exactly 4 drops - no more, no less
  • No damned garnish

Shaken well because I like my martinis cold. Laphroiag may be shaken with the Vox, or added afterwards. One bartender used to give me a sidecar and a straw so that I could add my own. He was a good man.
