Tenor and songwriter William 'Smokey' Robinson was lead singer of this 1960s to early 1970s Motown soul group. They fall into The Four Tops and The Temptations musical category. The other band members were Bobby Rogers, Ronnie White, Warren Pete Moore and Claudette Rogers Robinson (who left The Miracles in 1964), all vocalists. Smokey Robinson went solo in 1972 and was replaced by William Griffin, although it practically meant the end of the band as such.
Smokey Robinson and The Miracles' biggest hit was Tears of a Clown that stormed the hit parades in 1970, even though it was already on the 1967 album Make It Happen.
