Every year, the Marist College Computer Society (of which I am vice president ::preen::) goes around and gathers defunct machines. Then, just before finals week, when all the tension on campus is at its absolute peak, we spread out a tarp, bring out a twenty pound sledgehammer, and charge people fifty cents a swing to demolish (in effigy) the machine that ate their term paper, or kicked them off IM when they were talking to their girlfriend, etc, etc.

And yes, before I get mobbed with howls of protest, we make absolutely positively sure there is not a single scrap of working hardware in the pile before we begin. What few working machines we end up with get added to the MCCS Beowulf Cluster.
