Annual county events include the Tulip Festival - a Dutch heritage celebration, the Highland Games - a Scottish heritage celebration, the Logger Rodeo - a redneck heritage celebration, and the Oyster Run - a biker heritage celebration. A beautiful area full of backwards people who make their livings primarily off of tourism. Also home to the Skagit River, which is supposedly good for various water sports.

Things not to miss that they don't tell you about in the guidebooks:
The Chuckwagon, a crazy greasy spoon with a toy train driving around above patrons' heads. Locally famous for their bizarre hamburgers (buffalo burgers, peanut butter burgers, broccoli burgers, big bertha burgers...)
Awesome Mexican food, including El Gitano (the old one, in Burlington), Chapalita, and the burrito place I always forget the name of downtown.
The Reventment at sunset. It's dirty, but it's still beautiful.
Hillcrest Park, for all your controlled substance needs.
