In Karate, a mid-high block (Uke):
Position: Back stance (Kokutsu dachi)
Preparation: Front arm extended, open hand; back hand open palm in front and turned towards opposite ear; Elbows are touching.
Execution: Pull front hand back to solar plexus, back hand twists outward from ear and sweeps to block, the elbow should stay at a 45° angle. The hips will turn to 45° after switching sides on the Kokutsu dachi.
