side note, Seymour Stein is one of the more
influential A&R-men in the music industry. He formed his own
label,
Sire Records, in
1966 and is responsible for signing acts like
Madonna,
Ramones and
Fleetwood Mac.
It is rumored that the Belle and Sebastian song is about an offer the group once got from a large record company but eventually turned down.
