Originally written by Steve Young, most famously done by The Eagles.

I get all tear-y when hearing this song. Y'see, my parents - mostly my dad, but my mom too - were musicians of the folk/rock/country variety. They never amounted to more than "local bar band" status, but this is a song I heard many, many times growing up. I'm more familar with my dad's rendition than the Eagles... so whenever I hear this song, it turns on the big ol' memory faucet.

Anyway.

Steve Young based this song on an actual road. The real name is lost to the mists of time, as Seven Bridges Road was a folk name. The song itself is a simple outpouring of memory, which might explain why it does it to me.

I suppose you want the lyrics. Sure, I guess.

Now, there are stars in the southern sky
Southward as you go
There is moonlight and moss in the trees
Down the Seven Bridges Road.

Now i have loved you like a baby...
Like some lonesome child,
I have loved you in a tame way,
And I have loved you wild.

Sometimes there's a part of me
Has to turn from here and go...
Running like a child beneath warm stars
Down the Seven Bridges Road.

Now, there are stars in the southern sky.
And if ever you decide you should go,
There is a taste of time, sweet honey
Down the Seven Bridges Road..
