W. Richard Stevens died.
He was a
Unix guru responsible for lucid and incredibly influential books, including
TCP/IP Illustrated and Advanced Unix Programming.
I learned about his life, and his death on
news for nerds, aka
slashdot. It was also the ugliest, meanest, most horrible discussion I can ever recall on
slashdot, and was directly responsible for the
moderation system they now employ.
