The name of John Landis' first film, and a phrase that he has used in every film since, including the video "Thriller", which he did for Michael Jackson.

An example is in Coming To America, starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, not to mention James Earl Jones. Just after Semmi (Murphy) proposes to Lisa, she turns him down. When he gets off the subway car, there is a movie poster on the wall that says, "See You Next Wednesday..."

It's become a sport between my brother and me, who can spot it first!

The inspiration for John Landis' frequent use of the quote "See you next Wednesday..." is 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick.

In the movie, astronaut Frank Poole receives birthday well-wishings from his family. The conclusion of their video greeting card is the line "See you next Wednesday!" presumably because that is the next time the family will be allowed to communicate with the crew en route to Jupiter (Saturn in the book).

Shortly after viewing this message, things begin to go wrong thanks to HAL 9000. Poole is launched into space while on a spacewalk and Dave Bowman ventures on his own odyssey.

Because of the precarious events Bowman and Poole are thrown into after receiving the message, Landis uses the phrase as foreshadowing immediately before disastrous scenes.
