In 1993, Peter Gabriel was preparing a new concept for his world tour. He met with Canadian opera and theatre designer Robert Lepage to assist him in designing the show. The final concept took advantage of the typical arena. Instead of taking the route of many concerts and having one stage at the end of the floor, the Secret World stage had two separate stages: the square (masculine) stage, over which hung a huge rotating projection screen; and the round (feminine) stage, above which was suspended a large dome which could be lowered down to stage level. The stage show was predictably lavish. The two stages were connected by a conveyor belt, and they both had numerous elevators and trapdoors. There was a fake tree which appeared from one stage, a phone booth which appeared from the other, and a raft with which Peter would "paddle" across the conveyor belt.

Secret World Live is Peter's first non-soundtrack album without a photo of him on the front.

These recordings were taken from the performances at the Palasport Nuovo, November 16-17, 1993. Directed by François Girard and Robert Lepage

Papa Wemba and his crew appear to help out with In Your Eyes, an amazing journey through which I cannot sit still.
