The Greek island that was purchased by Aristotle Onassis in 1963.
Aristotle Onassis, the wealthy Greek tycoon, transformed this uninhibited island into his summer residence and had a harbor built there to dock his famous yacht the Christina. In 1968 Onassis married Jackie Kennedy in a chapel on the island and Jackie lived in a house here for the remainder of their marriage while Onassis himself lived on his yacht. In 1973 Onassis’s only son, Alexanderos, was buried beside the chapel, and when Onassis himself died in 1975 he was buried next to him. The island is now the property of Christina Onassis's daughter, Athina Roussel Onassis, who is the heiress of the Onassis Trust along with the island of Scopios.
