Manufacturer of 1/32 size slot-racing models of racecars. People put them on specifically designed tracks and use little gun-type things to race them against each other.

The website proclaims:
"If you just want to watch cars go round a track, get a video. Scalextric its not a spectator sport. To drive fast and stay on the track takes practice, and that's what gives Scalextric its special buzz - something you only get from full power, full risk slot-car racing."

There's nothing like the smell of a hot Scalextric set, when the cars have been running fast for some time. Anyone know what it is? My guess is some sort of ozone compound from the motors.

Note: virtually everyone pronounces "Scalextric" incorrectly, as scalec-trix. To be a proper pedant, be sure to emphasize the correct pronounciation.
