Sau"ry (?), n.; pl. Sauries (#). [Etymol. uncertain.] Zool.

A slender marine fish (Scombresox saurus) of Europe and America. It has long, thin, beaklike jaws. Called also billfish, gowdnook, gawnook, skipper, skipjack, skopster, lizard fish, and Egypt herring.
