A software tool for statistical analysis. Also an unwieldly and unfriendly program, similar in looks to Microsoft's Excel but much more unforgiving and archaic in its behavior. It is mainly used by businessmen, scientists, and students who follow a course in statistics.

One of the most flexible and intuitive advanced data analysis packages available. It is widely used by various flavours of scientists, and is a staple of market research (and other social sciences).
SPSS is an acronym which originally meant "Statistical Package for the Social Sciences."
