What a servomotor (or any facilitator of motion) is said to do when it loses contact with its motion controller. The motion controller can cause the servos to run away if the control program is not designed to know how far it can go and compensate for it. Most systems are designed so there are limit switches to cut the power to the motor in case of hitting a limit, so it doesn't depend on the software to save it.

Similar to a race condition in software.
