This prayer was first written by Saint Francis of Assisi, and has been adopted
by the Royal Air Force College. All new officer cadets on RAF Initial Officer
Training are given a small card with this prayer to keep with them. All are
encouraged to pray when facing difficulties.
LORD, teach me to serve You as You deserve:
To GIVE, and not to count the cost,
To FIGHT, and not to heed the wounds,
To TOIL, and not to seek any reward
Other than knowing that I do Your will.
Amen.
