I've incorporated a whole
library of
functions into index.pl, most notably
light.pl,
dark.pl,
frmmnt.pl and
mankind.pl (others are less vital). Noders may notice some of the following
changes:
Now, due to an unidentified incompatibility, the newly introduced features of "downvotes" and "upvotes" have the effect of changing a writeup's "reputation." Clearly we cannot have approval and disapproval flow freely: if this happens, noders may begin to tire of the editors' rule. In order to even out this problem, I have arranged for several gigacoulombs of charge to be sent directly to the recipient of a vote (lines 26783-29093, index.pl). This has the unintended effect of killing 27.54% of such recipients. However, this is the price we must pay to quell dissent.
I have delegated control of what were formerly accnt.pl, time.pl and ui.pl to nate for efficiency's sake. I must note again that the node Brian Eno is not to be written in: a bug in task distribution in time.pl allows for the information potentially contained in this writeup to alter spacetime.
One last note pertains to the use of the avatar Jeeves. His output is static at the moment, but any further changes to mnoder.pl could potentially cause instability (provided that the old wshrm.pl code is accessed); Jeeves will, in this situation, create a buffer overflow and begin killing off noders (determined by lines 1130-1132 of mnoder.pl) about 8 years later. Please take into consideration the cost of creating noders and exercise extreme caution if modification of mnoder.pl becomes necessary.
