The little brother of the Alpha Juno-2.
The Alpha-1 doesn't feature a memory cartridge slot and has a smaller 49-note keyboard.

This keyboard is the most famous of the gabber/trance/acid/hardcore dance genres, with users from 808 State to The Prodigy. It features an analog tone generator utilizing digital filtering technology, which in the early eighties when it was made available was a huge accomplishment.

The major difference between a Roland Alpha Juno-1 and an Alpha Juno-2 is the Alpha Juno-1's lack of aftertouch and velocity when outputting to an amplifier. They will both function equally when outputting using MIDI, however.

Also of note are pc programs which allow the entire memory banks of these synths to be transferred via MIDI, rather than recorded to cassette tape a la Juno-1 or cartridge.
