An imaginary Massachusetts town.

According to the Boston Globe, Ripton has appeared in the state budget twice, on a directional sign once, and various other ways. But the town does not exist.

In the 1980s, Ripton "officials" sent a letter, on town "letterhead", offering their town as a site for a series of microwave towers the Department of Defense wanted to install in the Berkshires. The letter was traced back to a particular postal meter, but nobody ever figured out who sent it.
