(Pop. somewhere between 600 and 1,000 or so) Small town in northwestern Idaho (near the base of the Idaho panhandle). Riggins is located in a deep canyon along the North fork of the Clearwater River, and has relatively cold winters (around 0 F or so) and hot summers (80-100 F, or even hotter at times).

Up until about ten years ago, Riggins was little more than a run-of-the-mill Idaho redneckville. Since then, however, its tourism industry has boomed because of its ideal location for watersports. Riggins is now a leader in the area of commercial whitewater rafting (it is billed as the "whitewater rafting capital of the world"), and one of Idaho's premeire tourist destinations.
