Richard Edward Connell
(1893-1949)
Best known for his popular irony in a short story called The Most Dangerous Game also authored Blood Orchid. Other principal works include the short-story collection Apes and Angels (1924) and the novel Mad Lover (1927).
Mr. Connell was born in Poughkeepsie, New York where his father worked as a newspaper editor. Richard began his writing career at age ten by covering baseball games for his father's newspaper earning ten cents per game.
At the age of sixteen Richard became the city editor and after High School attended Georgetown University and Harvard. Eventually he came to write for a New York advertising firm, and finally became a writer of short stories, novels and plays.
