Yes, that is an odd spelling, but it's intentional.

Quite a few of the classic Rhythim is Rhythim and R-Tyme 12" singles have just been rereleased on Transmat, including The Beginning, Beyond the Dance, Nude Photo, and Icon.

"Innovator" album was released under his real name, Derrick May but it contains most of the material released as "Rhythim is Rhythim".

Update:

I have found out that original Rhythim is Rhythim was two persons: Derrick May and Thomas Barnett. Michael James was another collaborator on many releases; not forgetting Carl Craig and D.Wynn.
