Rho Ophiuchi is that colourful little patch of stellar candy near Antares. It's multicolouredness is caused by the many different processes happening here. Present are both reflection nebulae, and emission nebulae. There are also many dust clouds present, that are lighted up by nearby stars, (like Antares).

These gas and dust clouds are even more colourful than our "visible"-spectrum-seeing-only eyes can detect, emitting light across the electromagnetic spectrum.
