Son of Zeus (Jupiter)+ (in the form of a bull) and Europa, Rhadamanthus (Rhadamanthys) had two brothers, Minos and Sarpedon. Ruler of Crete, Rhadamanthus was known for his honesty, piety and wisdom.

Rhadamanthus fled Crete for Boeotia and married Alcmene, Heracles' (Hercules') mother and widow to Amphitryon. After his death Rhadamanthus was made one of the three Judges of Hades, alongside his brother Minos and half-brother Aeacus.
