David Byrne's 1989 Salsa effort. Independence Day, "The Rose Tattoo," "The Dream Police," and "Marching Through the Wilderness" are my favorites.

Each song is styled in one of the nine Latin American dance styles, and Byrne takes the time to tell us which is which, in case we don't know squat about the differences there.

Although it's hard to listen to him sing for any length without wondering if small rodents have crawled up his pants leg, or if the chip implanted by aliens in his brain has switched to another setting, this is a good way to introduce yourself to Salsa.

It's party time!
