Project Phoenix is the world's most sensitive search for extra terrestrial intelligence. It is the successor to NASA's SETI project, which was shut down in 1993 by the US Congress. Phoenix works by using radio telescopes to examine the signal from sun-like stars, and stars with planets. The targetted search began operation at the Parkes radio telescope in 1995.
