Professor Pierre Arronax is a central character in the Jules Verne novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Along with his servant Conseil, he takes ship aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, an American vessel, to investigate reports of an enormous creature destroying ships. The 'creature' strikes, throwing the Professor and Conseil into the ocean; they, along with Ned Land the harpooner, are rescued from drowning by the mysterious Captain Nemo and his awesome creation, the Nautilus. So begins their journey.
