A subtype of trick-taking games, in these games, the cards have point values. The game depends on the points taken rather than the number of tricks taken. In positive point trick games, the object is to take at least a certain number of points in a trick (or just more than other players), and negative point trick games where you try to take as few points as possible. Some games have the objective of getting as near as possible to a predicted total.
