Peter Krause was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on August 12, 1965. In high school Peter was active in track and field and gymnastics until an injury ended his athletic career. After high school Peter attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota where he received a degree in English Literature. Peter then moved to New York City where he enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts Program at New York University. Upon graduation from NYU Peter moved to Los Angeles, California and began acting in television programs. Peter appeared on "Carol and Company", "Beverly Hills 90210", "Seinfeld", "The Drew Carey Show" and "Cybill." In 1998 Peter played a small role in The Truman Show opposite Jim Carrey. In the same year he landed the role of Casey McCall on the ABC sitcom "Sports Night." The show received critical acclaim but was canceled after two seasons due to low ratings. Peter is probably best known for his role as co-op manager turned funeral director on HBO's drama Six Feet Under.
