The Peclet ratio is the ratio of advection to dispersion in a flowing fluid. It may be computed by comparing the bulk advection (v*l) to the dispersivity (D):

Pe = v*l / D

When Pe is 0 we have perfect diffusion. When Pe is infinite we have bulk flow.
