In the
fantasy novels of
Rick Cook, the great
wizard who used a
Great Summoning to bring
Wiz Zumwalt into the
magical World, in the belief that he could help the
Council of the North against both the
Dark League and the World itself.
Patrius knew that, under the right conditions, he could perform the Great Summoning with minimal assistance, and without the need for protection. He recruited Moira, a former student of his, to help him, which she gladly did. He succeeded, but the Dark League detected his magic and killed him. Only later would events prove Patrius' judgement sound, as Wiz was able to piece together his spell compiler system and defeat the Dark League. Wiz regretted that Patrius was not there to see the outcome.
