PS 195 : 131 Irwin Street : Brooklyn, NY 11235
Public School District 22

As far as New York public elementary schools go, 195 is among the best. It may not have a nurse's office, but the main office folks are well equipped to deal with any minor injury. Despite the lack of a nurse, the school does maintain a licensed counsellor, Dr. Robin Segermeyer. The faculty tend to care about the progress of their students, and will not pass a student unless s/he has earned a passing grade. You'd think this is common procedure, but it isn't as common as it ought to be. The school's cafeteria, which also doubles as its theatre, is well prepared to handle students with odd food allergies, and always provides a vegetarian food selection that has nutritional content, as opposed to the strictly-lettuce salads one finds in most schools. I tended to be fond of the lasagna. Staff and faculty, as best as I recall them, are listed below:

Principal: Lillian Levy
Vice Principal: Eleanor Sheano
Counsellor: Robin Segermeyer

(missing names of early grade faculty)
3rd Grade: Mrs. Brockman
4th Grade: Mrs. Iris Kofsky
5th Grade: Mrs. Marilyn Meiselman
5th Grade: Mrs. Barbara Broslaw
6th Grade: Mr. Kenneth Brown

Rotating Faculty:
Science: Mrs. Tortorella
Math: Mrs. Marilyn Meiselman
Spanish and Social Studies: Mrs. Bachrach

and we're not sure what she did, but boy do we remember her: Mrs. Rodriguez

(if anyone else went to PS 195 and can add to this list, pls. /msg me.)
