There used to be a wall clock in the living room

mounted on the Eastern side of our house

It had a brass frame and would glow in the late afternoon

when the sun would hit it just right

When I was young my dad told me it glowed because it was

Radioactive

I believed him for a long time

By the time I knew that it was a joke

it was too late to tell him about it

The house is still there,  although

we don't live there anymore

I haven't been inside it for many years

but I bet sunsets still light up that wall

on certain afternoons

when the sun hits it just right
