* His eyes are steely blue with hints of navy and they tell you everything. The windows to his soul are flung wide open and the black velvet curtains that he calls lashes do nothing to obscure the inconvenient truth that lies behind. They crinkle when he laughs and they dance when he smiles, and his eyes are what I love most about him because when they look at me they soften, making everything inside me melt. This boy is innocent, this boy is naïve, this boy loves who he is and loves me and loves to live his life in the moment and doesn't care what people will find when they look into his clear, blue eyes.

* I upset him, with my eyes and my heart and my soul locked away in some deep, dark place that no one can find, though many have tried. My eyes are brown, almost black like my heart, and they hide what I feel and think in the shadows they throw. And when this boy tries to look into my eyes he gets frustrated, and that tiny little crinkle burrows deep into his forehead as he tries to read my blank face. I know that crinkle all too well, I've traced its shape too many times when I've avoided his eyes, avoiding the hurt and the pain that I'll see.

* His thoughts are written across his face, questions spelled clearly in his blue eyes as he wonders why I have so much trouble saying what I think and admitting what I feel. And the more he tries to pick the lock to my mind with his never-ending gaze, the more I pull away. This boy doesn't know that that lock is the only thing holding the pieces of me together; that without it I might fall apart.

* His eyes are blue and sharp like steel as they look away, and for once he's the one that's avoiding my look. And when he says he regrets ever meeting me, his eyes cut holes into mine, breaking my lock, breaking my heart and breaking up with me on a warm summer's day. The breeze sends his copper hair flying into his eyes, closing the windows to his soul to me forever as he walks away.
