A bi-timbral 6-voice polyphonic analog/digital synthesizer module, released in 1988.

The Matrix-1000 is basicially a small rackmount version of the Matrix-6, with a huge amount of preset sounds but no onboard programming controls.

The unit offers 1000 preset instruments, 200 of which are editable. Since there are no built-in controls for modifying the patches, programming must be done with external software. Transferring problems between the M1000 and a Matrix-6 / 6R is also possible via SysEX.
Other features of the synth include a monophonic unison mode and the ability to chain up to 6 units for multiplying the polyphony.

Famous users include Depeche Mode, Moby and Faithless.
