This term sums up my feeling about many usability features incorporated into modern GUIs such as windows, MacOSX and various window managers.
Describes a feature that looks great the first few times, but if you have to use the application again and again, you will quickly become annoyed.
While a 2 second sliding menu bar may look cool at a corporate demo, most people I know will turn off these "features" as soon as they get a chance. Several non-technical people I know have asked me in secret whether or not they can speed up the windows UI; make windows minimise faster, turn off fading and sliding menus.
