A Christian heresy, a type of Modalistic Monarchianism. Named for Noetus, Bishop of Smyrna, who taught that God the Father took flesh via the Virgin Mary and thus became Jesus, the Son. After HIs crucifixion He raised himself from the dead. This goes against the orthodox belief that the Son, a distinct Person of the Trinity, is co-eternal with the Father.
