Nick Bantock is known for his unique illustrated novels. there are so few mature reader stories that are illustrated, that he is quite a rarity. there is no doubt that the subject matter and level of his stories are for adults, yet he recognizes the importance of images to readers of any age. he breaks the taboo of "picture books are for children".

His novels include the Griffin and Sabine trilogy, The Venetian's Wife, The Forgetting Room, The Egyptian Jukebox, and The Museum at Purgatory. Recently I also found an autobiography and collected works called The Artful Dodger.
