For shame. New Haven is a virtual lexicon of every archetectural style in America (Colonial,Federalist,Neo-classical, Victorian, Beaux-Arts, and Modern). It has one of the few surviving town greens, with a working mineral spring in the corner of it. (The water, which is delicious, is free. Beat that, Poland Springs!) It was the site of the Powder House Rebellion, which is reenacted every Spring, the docking of the Amistad (the rebuilt boat is docked at Long Wharf), and the Bobby Seale trial (which is commemorated every year on May Day as a day for political speeches of all stripes). Clearly a place where history is alive!

It's true, it's poor, often dull, and there's little shopping. But I love it.
