I get up from a weekend of little besides noding to go for a walk in the snow.

All winter, it has been an annoyance here in Montreal, but now that it is officially spring, this snowfall seems like one last gift from winter.

It's been snowing for a full 24 hours, and shows no signs of stopping. It's that soft packy kind of snow, perfect for snowmen and snowballs.

I watch a car, covered in three feet of snow, try to work it's way out of its parking space.

Looking up, the top of a skyscraper dissappears in a mass of greyish-white. How did they pull off those translucency effects?

The light changes and I walk on. I'm covered in white flakes. Billions of little unique paratroopers enforcing house arrest on anyone who was thinking of driving tonight...

And the best thing about this kind of snowfall -- the silence. Everything is muffled, softened and hushed.

I walk out into the middle of the road. No cars, no sound, no darkness, is left by the snow.
