The Multiple Subject Teaching Credential is a California teaching credential that is required for educators who have "self contained classrooms." This usually means elementary school teachers who have the same class of students for the entire day, and who must be able to teach the multiple subjects (math, English, science, PE, etc.). Teachers who have a multiple subject credential may also participate in team-teaching or co-teaching when they are paired with another teacher (or teachers).

In order to receive a MSTC, one must-- as with the single subject teaching credential-- complete a certified teacher preparation program at an accredited university (or complete an equivalent program from out of state) and apply for one from the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing.
