In the High Elven tongue of Quenya, the Dark Elves. These were the Elven peoples who stayed in Middle-Earth and did not migrate to the Undying Lands in the time of the Trees of Valar, or who never reached their goal. They were lesser in power than the Eldar (High Elves). Among the Moriquendi were: the Avari (later called Silvan Elves) of Lothlórien and Mirkwood, the Nandor, the Laiquendi, the Falathrim and the Sindar.
