The Morgan Dollar is a silver dollar minted from 1878-1904 and again in 1921. The name of this dollar comes from the engraver, George T. Morgan,who also engraved the Barber type coinage. The coin contains 90% silver and has a mass of 412.5 grains. This coin has the same diameter as the Eisenhower Dollar.
The Obverse features a bust of the godess Liberty, 13 stars, the date, and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The reverse features a stunning eagle holding a bundle of arrows, to symbolize a willingness to go to war, and an olive branch to symbolize a desire for peace."THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR" are inscribed around the perimeter. "In God We Trust" is written above the eagle in gothic lettering.
This is a good coin for new coin collectors to get because Morgans are plentifull, and it is relativly easy to get a Morgan in a nice condition.
