Miram Shor created the role of Itzhak in the original Off-Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She plays him in the new Hedwig movie as well. She is wonderful as Hedwig's husband, the gruff, bearded back-up singer and would-be actor originally discovered by Hedwig while she (Itzhak, not Hedwig) was a cabaret singer performing as "The last Jewess in Yugoslavia" (this line references the play, not the movie). Itzhak is in love with the cruel Hedwig, as well as jealous of her femininity, or maybe just of the spotlight. Shor's performance as a male-performing transwoman who identifies as female works seamlessly.
