The one co-host of 60 Minutes who has been there since its debut. A long career: in radio, starting in the 1930s, he was an announcer and actor. In television's early days, he and his then-wife hosted a Regis and Kathie Lee type talk show; by 1950s end, he became known for hard-hitting stuff, precursor to the "ambush" style he would make famous. He launched a lucrative gig as an in-demand spokesmodel in TV commercials, but took a cut in pay to join CBS News.
