Due to sugar subsidies in the United States, nearly all soft drinks sold in the states are made with high fructose corn syrup. However, if you go to a decent burrito stand, you can buy Coca Cola (in a glass bottle) imported from Mexico. It's made with real sugar.

And it tastes so much better. Like coke used to taste

One conspiracy theory states that New Coke (not to be confused with Gnu Coke) was introduced as a diversion, so that the corporation could switch to the unsubsidized, and therefore less expensive corn syrup. Coca-Cola Classic is not the same as Old Coke. Just to make it a good conspiracy theory, I'd like to point out that ADM probably has much to gain by this situation.
