commercial, having a complete range of shopping, accommodation and recreation facilities.
Within Metrotown is Central Park, Swangard Stadium, the Burnaby Public Library and Civic Square, the Bonsor Recreation Complex, and "Metrotown", the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the province.
The shopping complex has over 500 shops and services, and 22 cinema screens, all located within one complex which spans 3 city blocks. Metrotown is further divided into the retail complexes of Metropolis, Metrotown Centre, and Station Square.
Metrotown is also the name of one of the two skytrain stations in the town centre. The other is Patterson.
Crime is particularly elevated in this region of South Burnaby, a large part of it unorganised, and drug-related.
