1894-1969. Born Merwan Sheriar Irani, in India. In college, he had some
sort of spiritual awakening that took seven years to digest, after which he
was declared an avatar. He began receiving disciples in the 1920's,
eventually becoming a worldwide concern; in later decades, Pete Townshend's
writings/activities introduced Meher Baba to the Pepsi Generation. From 1925, he was silent, using alternate means of communication - his last spoken words, IIRC, were "Don't worry - be happy".
