A bright idea executed by the Progressive Conservatives in Ontario that merged all of the independent cities in Metropolitan Toronto into one megacity.

Best pronounced May-Gah-Sit-Tee. After some initial teething pain it's working fairly well. Hardly anyone misses the old individual cities (York, North York, Scarborough, Toronto and Etobicoke) and the borough of East York. Except the pampered citizens of North York miss their twice-weekly garbage pickup. Oh boo hoo.

The Parti Quebecois, led by Lucien Bouchard (a former Conservative), also thinks it's a bright idea and decided to apply it to all the cities on the island of Montreal, the cities around Quebec and the Outaouais region GatinHullMer.
